Deemed a “Breakthrough Star” by MMSCENE Magazine, English-Nigerian producer, singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, speaker, and model, ASHER YELO, is one to watch. As a self-taught musician, he is taking the definition of “bedroom producer” to new heights, having already written and produced for the likes of Harmony Samuels; producing duo, Sons of Sonix; Brittany B.; Coco Jones; and Reina, before even graduating from high school. His self-written, produced, and performed debut solo project, know me (2021) was added to over 3,000 playlists on Spotify alone, including New Music Friday, BBC Radio 1 UK Top 40, and more. His lead single “go backwards” was featured in Oprah Winfrey’s “Queen Sugar” and also received support from Australian radio. Now at 20 years of age, 2022 brings forth a new side of ASHER YELO, as demonstrated through his widely-acclaimed remixes, which received recognition from the official Instagram team, and led to an onsite activation at Coachella. His Reddit live streams, in which he breaks down and teaches music production, have also garnered upwards of 2.5 million views. With Nigerian and English roots, his style is reflective of both elements of West African beats and introspective English lyricism, which will be on full display in his upcoming EP, mr. misunderstood.
ASHER YELO’s ability to create music that communicates across borders is also evident through his ability to fluently speak French, and his global production style is influenced by having lived in multiple countries and traveled to five out of the seven continents. As a bi-racial artist with a strong desire to inspire the youth of his generation, he has written, produced, and performed original charity singles for the GEANCO Foundation, alongside the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Cynthia Erivo, in addition to a number of other philanthropic endeavors. In conjunction with his burgeoning music career, ASHER YELO has walked in numerous fashion shows, including four Dolce & Gabbana runways during Milan and New York Fashion Week. With nine years of experience honing his skills as a producer and writer, ASHER YELO also caught the attention of legendary Quincy Jones Productions, and signed to the company for management, shortly thereafter. Through his musical storytelling, he doesn't shy away from sharing his struggles, whether large or trivial, but hopes that his transparency can touch hearts and souls. As a completely independent artist, ASHER YELO’s mission isn’t just to be seen, but rather to help provide a voice for the unseen.
